The wider discussion
And on a separate and related note from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen:
I have heard comments in recent years, that the fitness levels of the players, combined with the distance that they’re separated (attack from defence) means that this type of high speed collision death was inevitable.
Does Rugby League need to do something regarding these high speed collisions or was this just a freak accident…
So now we have a death from Cricket, and a death from Rugby League…
ABC had the following to say on the issue.
TGOS will keep it brief this week as follows.
NRL Tips Round 16
Broncos vs Knights – Broncos (Broncos are selectively resting players but Knights are riddled with injury, suspension, early departures and other miscellaneous mayhem. Seriously on the slide)
Rabbitohs vs Sea Eagles – Rabbitohs (Sea Eagles are crawling back into form as players slowly make their way back from injury. Rabbitohs yet to really hit their straps. Ironically, Souths were 9-5 heading into Round 16 last year so only one less win this year. Seems like chalk and cheese but they finished so strong last season)
Warriors vs Raiders – Warriors (Warriors generally have the wood on Raiders and can’t see anything to change that scenario. Should be a high scoring match though)
Cowboys vs Sharks – Cowboys (Sharks nearly jagged a win against the Cows in the correlative fixture last year with a very young side and no JT this time around. This will be very close but Cows seem to be finding a way to win every week)
Eels vs Dragons – Dragons (Dragons to hit back. Eels to continue to revel in disarray)
Roosters vs Titans – Roosters (Roosters should win this in a canter)
Tigers vs Panthers – Tigers (I’m pumping for the Tigers in the battle of the West but it will be dreadfully close. Farah is the tipping point)
Bulldogs vs Storm – Bulldogs (Storm will struggle with only 1 third of the big 3. Rumour has it Cooper Cronk might be available for this one. That might swing the balance back)

NRL Fantasy Round 16
Trades
Cameron Smith (Storm) for James Segeyaro (Panthers) – It is a bit of a poisoned chalice being selected at Hooker in my Superteam. 3 injured in 3 consecutive weeks. Nathan Peats, Kierran Moseley and now James Segeyaro. I transferred Mitch Rein in only to have him take the early guilty plea and miss a match. Finally, settled on Cam Smith. He will be unavailable next week but there just wasn’t any other viable options.

Cameron Smith (Storm), Martin Taupau (Tigers), George Burgess (Rabbitohs), Shaun Fensom (Raiders), Tohu Harris (Storm), Ethan Lowe (Cowboys), John Sutton (Rabbitohs), Shaun Johnson (Warriors), Jack Bird (Sharks), Iosia Soliola (Raiders), Euan Aitken (Dragons), Semi Radradra (Eels) and Lachlan Coote (Cowboys)
